GtB: A groom’s guide to getting married.  Welcome.

This is a new venture for me. I never thought about writing a groom’s guide on getting married.  Hell, I never thought I’d get married.  But recently I got engaged and, during the weeks/months leading up to that decision, it became painfully obvious that most wedding oriented websites are primarily focused on appeasing the female in the relationship. Big shocker there, right?  But when it comes to thoughts on getting married, they carry the majority of that burden so it makes perfect sense.
But there wasn’t a groom’s guide (at least one I could find) that gave an average guy a voice.  In most situations, that’s entirely understandable. We have, as a gender, settled into a role of letting the women folk handle the wedding duties.  That’s kind of like finding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, drinking a beer, and having Thanksgiving dinner all in one.  So it came as no surprise that most of the advice I found came from sites that catered primarily to females.
But there are certain aspects of getting married, which are extremely important, that could be better handled or, at the very least, summarized more concisely. We’re guys. We don’t want to have to go to 9 different websites. If there’s an alternative out there that can answer our questions in one Google stop, all the better.  A Super Target for getting married where you can find out about engagement rings, wedding duties, the rehearsal dinner?  Sign me up.  A site where you can come to vent to your fellow grooms-to-be about the illogical ramblings of your future mother-in-law?  You name it.  This is, or will become, a groom’s guide on getting married (and hopefully staying married) that can answer all of your questions in one place.
This is Groomed to Be. Henceforth, GtB. To start, we’re a groom’s guide devoted to getting you through the proposal process, but also one that aims to help you become a better groom. While it’s your partner’s passion to have an amazing wedding, you can absolutely have an active role in that process; oftentimes saving the both of you time and money for your future family. And ultimately that is what this site will become for all of us – a place to share our thoughts on being husbands and dads in an ever-evolving society that places less and less importance on our various roles.  So sit back, relax, and become prepared to fully grasp the implications when the inevitable discussion on getting married pops up.

Update: We’re looking for site contributors.  If you feel that you have a unique, male perspective to offer on wedding preparation (any aspect), please contact us at josh@groomedtobe.com.
